Ingredients
-
2 Lbs / 1 Kg Greek Yogurt
-
1 Tsp Salt
Directions
Labneh is a middle-eastern / Arab kind of cheese based on Yogurt. It is sour, it is salty, it is heavenly when fresh but can preserve a long time in olive oil.
Above all it is so easy to make! All you need is basically some kind of creamy greek yogurt and salt. Then you just let it sit in a cheese cloth and time will do the rest…
The best way to serve it is in a bowl drizzling olive oil around it. If you have Za’atar that can add a lot but not essential.
Tips For Success:
- Greek yogurt – any creamy yogurt will do. Whole milk would be probably better
- Cheese cloth – you must get one but any cotton muslin would work
- The best way to preserve it is to make small bowls from the cheese. Put in jar and cover with olive oil

Letting Time Work!Pour the yogurt to the cheesecloth. Tie all the sides to make it nice and tight. Now the yogurt needs to rest and let time and gravity work. The best would be to hang the cheesecloth over the kitchen faucet. If not you can just out it above a colander. |
