Privacy Policy

What we collect

CookinCity is a read-only recipe site. We do not require accounts, we do not ask for personal information, and we do not store form submissions on our own servers.

• Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 with Consent Mode v2 set to default-denied. This means we receive only aggregate, anonymous pageview counts unless and until you explicitly grant consent — no tracking cookies are set, no individual visitor is identified by default. Your IP is anonymised even in the aggregate signal.
• Local storage: Your browser stores your favorite-recipe list and your theme preference (light/dark) locally on your device. This data never leaves your browser.
• Advertising: Google AdSense is loaded on this site. Ad personalization is consent-gated through the same Consent Mode signals as analytics; with consent denied (the default), only non-personalized ads may be shown.
• Contact form: When you send a message through the Contact page, the form is processed by a small PHP script on our own server and emailed to us. We log the submission (name, email, IP, time) to a private file for spam-mitigation; that log is rotated and never shared.

What we do with it

Aggregated analytics inform what's popular on the site. Nothing else. We don't sell data, we don't run retargeting ads, and we don't profile individual visitors.

Third parties

• Cloudflare delivers site assets (including images) and sees the standard HTTP request metadata (IP, user-agent) that any CDN does.
• Google Analytics 4 records aggregate pageview events. Default consent state is denied — no tracking cookies, IP anonymisation on.
• Google AdSense serves the ads on the site. Personalization is gated behind the same Consent Mode signal as analytics.
• Social share buttons (Pinterest, Facebook, X, WhatsApp, email) are plain HTML links. No tracking script runs when the page loads — those platforms only see you if you click.
• Amazon Associates: some outbound product links are affiliate links. See Affiliate Disclosure.

Your rights

You can clear favorites and theme state by clearing your browser's local storage for this site. You can opt out of Google Analytics by blocking the googletagmanager.com domain in your browser or installing Google's official opt-out add-on. You can opt out of personalized ads by leaving Consent Mode at "denied" (the default) or by visiting adssettings.google.com.

Children

CookinCity isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13.

We'll update this policy when something actually changes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
