My name is Yaron Kimhi, I live in Tel-aviv, a city which combines a variety of cooking styles and genres, serving as a middle eastern modern culinary center and at the same time keeping the heritage of the Jewish and Arab local kitchens.
When I started this blog on 2016 I was actually looking for a place to keep all my favorite recipes, something like a cooking notebook, which will be easy to go back to when needed, simplifying the process of locating a recipe when I need to cook dinner avoiding the exhausting search in a dozen cookbooks for ideas.
Getting thru the process of cooking and blogging was a real challenge, not many people are aware of this, but if you’re passionate about cooking and you want your close friends to enjoy your recipes, you need to explain all stages in details with photos of the process to illustrate the recipe making, this is actually pretty exhausting because cooking is fun but adding a camera to the process can be wearing at some point and take you out of the cooking zone.
By now, my family got to used my usual phrase ” hold on I need to take a photo of the dish” just before serving, when everybody’s at the table starving, well it’s a part of the game as well.
I started cooking at the age of 15 following my mother and grandmother. At some point of the road cooking became a profession, when I found myself working in a few restaurants and later on managing restaurants, an experience which contributed quite a bit to my point of view of this hard profession, overlooking the big picture of the restaurant business, which in my eyes, the most challenging profession out there, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody’s who is not 100% committed and passionate about it.
During the road of creating this blog, we were gifted with talented cooks who uploaded recipes. We still welcome any cook who wants to write and share with us and the rest of the world, his culinary intellect and experience.
So, happy cooking everybody!
