Editorial Standards
What "tested" means here, how we update recipes, and where we stand on independence and disclosures.
Who writes the recipes
Every recipe on CookinCity is authored, tested, and photographed by Jaron Kimhi in his own kitchen. No guest contributors, no agency-written content, no AI-generated recipes. Language editing may be applied for clarity and grammar, but every fact — ingredient, quantity, temperature, timing, method — originates with Jaron.
How recipes are tested
A recipe is published only after it's been cooked at home and produced the intended result. For most recipes that means cooking it at least twice — once while developing, once to verify quantities and timings before writing it up. For slow-cook and baking recipes, often more.
Timings ("5 hours", "30 minutes") are real-world, not theoretical. Temperatures are given in both °C and °F where oven settings are involved. Where a step has a meaningful time-window, you'll see a timer button — that's the window the author actually used.
Updates and corrections
Recipes get updated when a technique improves, a step is clarified, an ingredient quantity is refined, or a reader flags a mistake. Every recipe shows Published and Updated dates so you can see what's current.
If you find an error, tell us. We fix it quickly and don't hide the update.
Nutrition
Nutrition figures, where shown, are calculated per-serving and reflect the ingredients as listed. They're estimates — meant to be useful, not medical. Variations in brands, exact weights, and serving sizes will move the numbers.
Editorial independence
CookinCity is an independent, solo-run site. Recipes are chosen on merit, not on sponsorship. No brand has ever paid to have a recipe developed, favored, or featured — and no brand ever will without an unmissable disclosure on the recipe itself.
Affiliate links
Some recipes include links to specific equipment or ingredients on third-party retailers. Where those links are affiliate links — meaning a small commission flows to the site if you buy through them — they're marked as such and the site publishes a public Affiliate Disclosure. These links never influence what a recipe recommends.
AI usage disclosure
Claude (an LLM by Anthropic) is used at this site for copy-editing passes — fixing grammar, smoothing awkward phrasing, and generating Q&A sections from the recipe's own facts. It is not used to invent recipes, ingredients, quantities, temperatures, or techniques. The author reviews all edits.
